welcome

Audrey Searle's photographs capture the nature of nature - the natural environment that supports us and which we sometimes naively feel we can control. Her images have a meditative quality that makes you want to look deeper, from the subtle beauty of her dying lilies to the brooding presence of her trees at night.

The 'Lilies 2' series, with their manipulation within their production, creates an other-worldly quality.

"My approach is deliberately low-tech often using domestic lighting. I think the tension in this method itself, reveals something about the nature of the subject that would not otherwise be visible. It is as much an integral part of the process of control and experiment as the time in the darkroom."
